あけましておめでとうございます / Happy New Year

あけましておめでとうございます

or as they say in English

Happy New Year.

2008 is behind us now so I hope everyone will take the opportunity to set themselves some goals to aim towards for 2009.

I tend to set myself quite stupid resolutions that can in no way be measuered in any sense, so this year I decided to actually think about it and set myself resonable and measurable goals for 2009.

New Years Resolutions

  1. Learn and memorise 2045 Kanji using the hesig method.
  2. Study 200 Japanese sentences.
  3. Learn PHP.
  4. Learn JavaScript.
  5. Master CSS.
  6. Know all the main musical scales on Guitar and Keyboard.
  7. Write and record at least 3 songs.
  8. Produce and publish a live website.
  9. Blog More.
  10. Go on a photography mission at least twice a month.

As I’m sure you can see they are all quite measurable goals that I WILL achieve if not Lord Strike Me Down (on a more serious note God you can forget that bit )

Any body else make any resolutions they think they can live up to? Or any resolutions at all?

Remember, Remember the 5th of November

November 4, 2008 · 2 Comments

Remember, remember the Fifth of November,
The Gunpowder Treason and Plot,
I see no reason
Why the Gunpowder Treason
Should ever be forgot.
Guy Fawkes, Guy Fawkes, t’was his intent
To blow up the King and Parli’ment.
Three-score barrels of powder below
To prove old England’s overthrow;
By God’s providence he was catch’d
With a dark lantern and burning match.
Holloa boys, holloa boys, let the bells ring.
Holloa boys, holloa boys, God save the King!

Guy Fawkes Night (also known as Bonfire Night, Fireworks Night and Cracker Night) is a yearly celebration of the foiling of the Gunpowder Plot in 1605.

The Gunpowder Plot was when Guy Fawkes and a group of English Roman Catholics planned to blow up the Houses of Lords along with King James I, his family and a most of the aristocracy whilst they attended the state opening of parliament. If they had succeded they would of wiped out most of the Royal Family and aristocracy thus either causing a revolution in England or a Royal reform. However Guy Fawkes was caught by guards whilst guarding the gunpowder underneath the House of Lords.

Guy Fawkes Night is traditionly celebrated by having a bonfire and placing an effige of Guy Fawkes on top, it is also common to have fireworks aswell and eat foods such as baked potato, toffe apples, bonfire toffe and mushy peas with mint sauce.

It also used to be a tradition for children to use effigies of Guy Fawkes to raise money for fireworks or bonfire related treats by asking people “Penny for the Guy”, unfortunatley this has died out and has been replaced by trick or treating.

Do you celebrate Guy Fawkes Night in your country at all or did you know the story behind it?

End of Summer start of College

September 7, 2008 · 3 Comments

So the time has come, the end of my 3 month summer holiday and the start of my college education.for

Truth be told I’ve been waiting for this moment since the start of year 11, the moment where I would focus on 1 subject I loved for each and every lesson:D

The lesson I will be spending all my time learning and perfecting is Software Development. Here’s the course review.

Basically it focuses on the skills needed to be employed in the I.T sector of any company in the first year and also touches on website creation and maintenance. Then the second year focus on different types of programming, animation and game development. So all in all it’s a killer course that will give me 3 A levels that will allow me to enter university and do what ever course I wish to do:D.

Here’s the equipment I will be taking.

  • Laptop (only when needed).
  • .Net Magazine for self learning and reading.
  • C++ book for self learning in my free time.
  • Web design for dummies for self learning.
  • Stationary.
  • Paper work including my horrible college pass.
  • Note books to write my notes and doodle in.
  • My cheap arsed version of Genki Japanese course because im skint and cant afford the real one.

So that’s the low down of the start of my college life.

Im throwing bollocks to the air about the Spelling and grammar mistakes because It’s the night before I start and I need to sleep so I cant really delay this post. I will edit it at a later date.

Wish me luck and cya.

Greeeen/グリーン

http://blog.unity1007.com/artist/images/greeeen1.jpg

I recently acquired Both of Greeeen’s albums after hearing their song Paripipo ( パリピポ ) on a YouTube video, I was instantly hooked after hearing that one
song and hoped that the albums would not let it down.

And you know what, it really didn’t both albums are spectacular. Their style of music is mellow and laid back making it perfect to listen to at night
whilst writing blog posts or just chilling.

And know for some information on the band.

Greeeen are a four piece group from Koriyama in Fukushima prefecture. The four Es in their name represent each member Hide, Navi, 92 and soh all of which
have studied dentistry at Ohu University in Fukushima, and suprisingly they keep their identitys conceled as to separate their music life with their
dentistry work. I can only begin to imagine how weird their lifes are.

Youkoso/ようこそ

August 28, 2008 · 12 Comments

はじめして。
どうぞよろしく。
私はロバートです。

Now all the formalities are out of the way (albeit in Japanese) I can explain what you will find on this site and hopefully come to love.

I’m starting this blog so I have somewhere to publish my thoughts and write about what I’m interested in. What’s that I hear you say? What are my interests? Well my main interests are Japan and everything about it from Anime, J-dorama and cheesy J-pop right down to the nitty gritty samurai laden history. Web design/development which I’m not a pro at yet, well not even a novice I’d say. And finally my last main interest is Music whether it’s listening to it or playing it on my guitar I love it, I find it hard to find music that I don’t like and I don’t know if that’s a gift or a curse since my computer has too much music on it.

What you will find on this site will mainly be Reviews of films, music, books etc that I’ve enjoyed and would like to share my opinions on. Use full tips and tricks I find for Learning Japanese, Web design/development or playing guitar. And little excerpts from my day to day life that I feel are appropriate for the blog.

Expect the first real post sometime in the near future, I jut have to figure out how to use this new fangled interwebs, and sort my wordpress account out.
That’s all folks

じやあ、また。
